Trip's farewell from Chennai

Category : Personal

It was April, 2005 when Tripathi came to Chennai, to join Satyam… He happily stayed here for somewhat more than a year and left Chennai on 29th May, 2006 (even more happily)

Here are some photographs, which will remind us of his farewell and his stay with us, as a room-mate and a good friend.

Memories of Satyamotsav

Category : Personal

Well, I thought this is the right time to write about the "Memories of Satyamotsav", because, now I am left with only the highlights of the event (in my mind)...

Satyamotsav, by the way is an annual event in Satyam.
This year, it was celebrated on 21st of April...

I could not participate in many events, because of the project requirements, except for the advertising competition and the quiz (I was thrown out in the prelims itself, thanks to my GK)

And then came the d-day… it was held in a big stadium at a place called “Mayajaal”. The theme was a village fair, where you could find all traditional things and happenings like a folk dance (I was scared looking at it first), a merry-go-round for the kids and stalls of eatables…

All this was more or less the usual stuff, except for the photo studio, in which I had the opportunity to click a photograph with the superstar of Tamil movies – “Rajnikant”

(And the food was horrible, along with the language of the compere, which I could not understand)

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...

Category - Personal

Who said you can find stars in the books of astronomy, astrology or fairy tales? A human can be a star too... No, I am not talking about the film-stars, but about the stars in the corporate world...

The ongoing appraisal season gave me the reason to create this post. In my company, the person scoring the highest relative rating is a star (kind of 5/5). Everyone here wants to be a star... a star perfomer, and everyone works towards it, but in the end very few people really get it... I fall in the majority - the people who are not stars...

The corporate policies they say is behind all this... and hundred other reasons, logical enough to confuse the person and agree to the rating they give you...

Let me make strategies for the next one... I will shine someday... amen

Sher-o-shayri

Category - Art and Culture
“When words are not enough to express emotions, feelings or situation, sher-o-shayri comes for rescue”
--Anononymous

Sher is a form of poetry. Originally started with Urdu and Persian languages and then other languages (like Hindi, Gujarati and Punjabi) adopted it.

Be it the expression of love, comparison of beloved, or the pain of separation or even humor, shers are best to describe them all.

I like to use shers as a part of my vocabulary, wherever applicable… so do many people, but am very bad at remembering the author of the sher. Anyways, the default author of any complicated sher would be “Mirza Ghalib” for me, ha ha… (Don’t mind)

I wanted to have a collection of shers, but then thought it would be a girlish thing to do that. (Really??)

And the one sher that is revolving in my mind now is

“Hazaron khwahishen aisi ki har khwahish pe dam nikle,
Bahut nikle mere armaan, lekin phir bhi kam nikle…”
Long live Ghalib!!

Use Gobbledygook, Look Smarter!!

Yup, that was a jargon.

Jargons are generally made in order to make language difficult to understand by others. Often they are used as euphemisms or to shortly explain a phenomenon. But the main idea is to make your target audience understand what you want to convey. And ofcourse it makes u look smarter...

So, next time when someone says "it was a salmon day", you won't be
"404"
